At 1:10 the bombastic QVC Today's Special Value mix kicks in. They're still using it 20-something years later.

Before cable arrived in my home town, ONtv, The Z Channel & SelecTV, were all broadcasting in So Cal. My dad built decoder boxes and used special antennas to get the programs for free from both On & Z. Z Channel was my fave with many art & foreign films shown as well as obscure and B movies. Good times.

I LOVED Z Channel! The cool movie channel for cool people. They were the first place on American TV to air "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and one of the few ahywhere to air the complete, uncut, nearly 4 hour long versions of both "1900"(1976) & "Heaven's Gate"(1980).Long live Z!

I saw it on IFC a year ago and it surely is sad what became of the man behind this channel.

Do you have anymore Z clips? I`ve kinda acquired a major fascination of the channel after watching A magnificent obsession.

It's a sad story but it's been thoroughly chronicled in a documentary called Z Channel - A Magnificent Obsession (which I rented on Netflix).
