How can you say that? Do you know what all the components do for a pc/ps3? If it meant nothing, why put any at all in it? As someone else mentioned before, when a pc or ps3 runs a program, if that program needs more then the available ram, it must use 'virtual ram', which is using the harddrive to store information required for the program to run. This results in very bad performance. It doesn't matter if theres 32 gpus, a system is only as fast as its slowest component.

Have they allowed use of the RSX yet? And the Cell Processors are fully working with Yellow Dog, right?

Correction, those are SPE's "Synergistic Processing Elements" not FPU, but they function very similar as they are RISC processors dedicated to floating point arithmatic and various other instruction sets.

The PS3 does not have 8 GPU's and yes, when your single core 3.2GHz Cell processor with 7 FPU "cells" run out of things to process in memory, it will be waiting for the Harddrive to give it more to process. Your harddrive will be many many times slower than your memory is. For apps that require a lot of RAM, your special processor will be doing absolutely nothing waiting on the harddrive to catch up. Cool huh?

I would like to make a few corrections. The insinuation that the PS3 would make a fast PC/good for gaming. That is utterly misleading.Linux on the PS3 runs on a single Cell Processor and 256mb ram.Not special, Quite rubbish. Reason for this is Sony & Co have hardware masked the RSX chip meaning 256mb of the 512mb is missing in action and the platform suffers from not having a 3D Accelerator (or supported graphics card if you will) meaning the OS runs on software rendering more or less.

I have Yellow Dog 6 installed on my PS3 running in 480i. My problem is that I can't set up WiFi because the resolution cuts off the bottom of the screen. Can anyone help me? Please message me ASAP if you can.
