If you can do this like he can you can do a lot better in fighting than anyone else without such abilities.

pabo, an average joe with a .44 would beat your average joe with a 9mm. this shit could go on for a while, the point of martial arts isn't to become invincible. never has a martial artist said "i know this so i'm unstoppable." It's about discipline and training every aspect of your body, mind, and spirit to do exactly what you want it. you know....maybe you should take some classes so the next time you see this, you won't prove that some comments need to be left unsaid.

broad swords are heavy and they deffinently do not flail around like that but if you tried to do that with a really broad sword you would lopp your own arm off lol

Indeed. That kind of sword-fightning is not realistic. But it looks very good

fuck.. it's not meant for real combat obviously! Wushu is for competition it's not like they teach it in the army.. Real Broadswords are much thicker and don't bend like that and could slice someone's head off.

Just for you all to know, "the real combat" isn't the most important part of martial arts. Most people do it for self undertsanding and control, and to keep themselfs fit and flexible.

I hear this a lot about straightswords and I just have to correct it, even if only once...the common statement that straightswords are only for piercing techniques, and are not to be used for slashing. This isn't correct. straightswords are used for slashing as well...there are DOZENS of slashing motions in straightsword styles. It is CHOPPING techniques that the straightsword shuns, not SLASHING.

yes there is something called san da (aka san shou) which is essentially Chinese kickboxing. they use hands, elbows, feet, knees, and takedowns (though I'm not sure if they use elbows in competition). There is also traditional kung fu (i save the term "wushu" for referencing the modern performance-aimed version...less confusing), which is what wushu has its roots in. traditional styles are much more combat-applicable, and far less acrobatic and flashy.

I personally dont study what people typically call "wushu" (but "wushu" , technically speaking, means "martial arts" and can really apply to all martial arts like tae kwon do, kendo, taijutsu, etc.), However, from my understanding, people who practice "wushu" (such as in this broadsword video) also have a thing called "sanda" which IS sparring (or at least sparring like)
