The Yankees actually won more regular season games in the 1980s, than any other team. 1981 was their best year in the decade. The Yankees could have won another Championship or two in the 1980s, if they would have kept Reggie Jackson. Imagine a lineup with Mattingly, Jackson, Henderson, and Winfield. Have Henderson bat leadoff, have Mattingly protect Jackson, and bat Winfield 5th. They could have won at least once or twice in the decade.

The Yankees absolutely sucked in the '80s. They were hard to watch and many people did not watch.

Try not getting pissy everytime the Phillies are introduced as "Your World Champion Phillies." My ex was an obsessive Phils fan (used to ditch me to watch games), so as you can see, I am not fond of the Phils.
