If you put yourself in the shoes of someone who has never seen an armoured vehicle before, then it probably looked pretty bloody terrifying. We well know how Haig treated the BEF, but it doesn't detract from the leap of imagination it took to developt this thing into a fighting machine. It was actually remarkably successful and it went on to become the single most important development of the war. If you think about it, it is the only major concept that is still in use today.

I'd stick you in a disease ridden, rat infested trench up to your neck in dirt and water on next to no food getting shot at, blown up and gassed surrounded by decaying corpses and rotting equipment. Bare in mind at that time you'd of probably never even seen a motor car let alone a tank, had next to no education and until you got called into a war never even travelled.... till that day comes you have no idea what happened to be able to make a comment like that. Pratt.

of course, germans had their own tank at late end of WW1! its the A7V ;-)

they should of made them so soldiers could go inside of them atleast 15 or so and then they would move across the no mans land with like 10 tanks holding 15 men each and t hen once they got to the trenches they drop of the men and cover them with the turrets

This was literally a "tank".

When they were first made they broke down and they also got stuck in the mud, they were genious in that it managed to make some sort of cover for troops so that they wudnt be mowed down machine gun fire and it also meant that if they did make it to the trench that they cud roll over the barbed wire, they were also used at the end of the war combined with the infantry and the air force to great success.

Tired? From sitting in well defended positions?-No. Emotionally weak?-Was counselor Troi there to make that assessment? Physically weak?-Far more energetic than the foot soldiers advancing (crawling if they like living) toward you in your well defended position. Hungry?-Years later. Not in 1916 when this was introduced. It doesn't stop? Hell yea it does. You got excellent mortars available (universally in the german army) to your unit. You got upper level artillery. The garage stops!

Well if you were tired, dirty, emotional and physically weak, hungry and then you saw a massive metal slug moving forward fireing at you and also when you shoot it and it dosnt stop what would you be thinking? the tanks did terrify the germans to begin with

back then no one have ever seen a tank before so u would shit ur pants too

cus one can shoot anywaer and the ones with one on each side cant hit right in front of the tank dead center and they cant shoot to the back of the tank eather so you could stand in front of the tank and not get hit cus the shells would land to the side of you if you were dead center in front of it but if the tank has a turet than it can hit anyware it wants with no blinde spots
