you can survive, my gramp and all his brothers survived from 1914-1918 but carried on til 1923 then went into WW2 and survived that... ive seen my family history, records and medals. i believe its not pollution or mist lol its mustard gas and other deadly gasses, my dad is in the R.A.F and served in kosovo, iraq and afghanistan and now im following going to afghanistan in 4 months so it runs in the family. But in those days you had pretty much no choice, i would of went too.
