My last comment I meant to say Augustus is German Violet Buregarde and Mike Teevee are American and Veruca Salt and Charlie Bucket are English. And I'm part German part English and part American

In my opinion the original movie was better. What I thought when I saw this one was that Johnny Depp looked extremely creepy, but that's just me. I think it was the purple gloves that did it.Good movie over all though.

You got that right. I've read the book before seeing this, and everything was in the movie. although, the song don't have all the lyrics that were in the book.

The new Film is actually based on the Book by Dahl. It is also called. CHARLIE and the chocolate factory just like the Book. If you read the book then go watch the original. It is completely different and to me doesn't give any justice to Dahl's fantastic novel. I prefer the Tim Burton version only because it follows the book a lot better than the original.

And? He seemed to have played off the character all the same, he did a decent job of it. Both decently good actors having different takes on the character, it happens all the time. Personally, both films are brilliant in their own way. You grew up with the original, that's fair enough. But you comment sounded very immature when you stated your opinion.

Im just saying why mess with a classic. In my book gene wilder is the true willy wonka. Johnny Depp's character looks like a take off of michael jackson.

The Oompa Loompas in Tim Burton's film were based on Roald Dahl's original protrayal from the first version of the books where they were black pigmies, but because of racial issues, he had to make them white. And to make clear, Deep Roy is Asian, not Mexican. And another thing to make clear, Johnny Depp's protrayal of Willy Wonka is only a modernized version of Gene Wilder's and Roald's Wonka and Depp's protrayal was inspired by a famous female fashion designer.
