This whole song is founded on loss, Kipp and Pat's Father was gunned down by a stalker when they were young children. They always sing it as a positive, that life goes on and joy springs eternal. I think to lose your Father in those circumstances at 9 years old, and to go on and be such a great person/people with such affinity with the fans, it's truly a feat of how wonderful their family ethic is. They just don't shout about it.
