It's kinda sad in a way, not many people knew who U2 where at this gig?? they were still very underground, but this is defo one of thee performances of the Live Aid Show, Bono's voice is sublime.A classic U2 performance!

The only person who I've seen mention that the band was going to fire Bono is Bono himself. And he does tend to exaggerate. They may have been furious with him, but they knew without him they'd be playing Irish pubs for the rest of their lives. Or I suppose they could have traded him for David Lee Roth.

i read somewhere that Bono saved the life of that girl because she was being scashed by the crowd and he tried to signal it to the securitys, but they didn't get it so Bono jumped and grabed her. I really don't know if this is true, just remembered to share what i've read xD

Reading the interviews after this concert it was obvious The Edge was furious! It's probably a good thing though that they didn't kick out Bono. He may not be the best singer all the time, but U2 is better together, not separated.

The song is good, but after the first 100 repetitive riffs and Bono fukin it up, well, what can you do with a base line anyway...not a whole lot as this performance, errr lack there of proves. BTW Bono what's up with the goggles now? Did they replace the mullet for ID crisis?.

I don't care what anyone says, No Line on the Horizon is the best album I've heard all year. The only recent album which rivals it is Day & Age by the Killers, and guess who the Killers cite as their main influence when writing music? You know, half of the U2 haters say that they suck because they changed after the 80s. If they hadn't changed, the other half would be moaning that "these guys never do anything new and all their songs sound the same". YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS PEOPLE!!!<3 U2

Oh cmon, achtung, are you really taking my post seriously? I was just mocking the people who go on about how they were good until some album or tour in the 80s. And they act as if it's a contest on who goes back further. I think they're idiots but I get the feeling that they think very highly of themselves. So that's why I went all the way back to Boy. I knew I'd win!!

@baldybates: Bono was just trying to get his groove on with someone other than Ali without actually cheating, what else, lol? You see he wasn't calling out to or grabbin' none of the fellas for hugs. That's about as close as he was gonna get. :-)I remember him saying in an interview a couple years after this that he thought the band was gonna boot him out for what he did. I wouldn't have thought it was such a horrible thing to do; it was history in the making.

Christ, this is the first time I've watched this since it was broadcast live and it still makes me cringe. A good song and a good performance by the band but Bono was and still is such a pretentious twat! What the fuck is that hugging all about?

Blew it?? 150 million album sales, enormus concerts events such as Zootv, Pop Mart, their current 360 tour, sold out shows all over the world for the last 22 years, if that is blowing it then how the hell do ya make it?

both Queen and U2 stole the show, but for me U2 were the more impressive, I watched this live, Queen were already a well established band, U2 were a rising phenomenom and went on to become exactly that.

I wasn't there in the flesh, but I was there in front of my mom's little kitchen black and white TV set, hoping and praying I hadn't missed this. U2 was what I prowled Live Aid for that day. And I wasn't disappointed. I think, even as a 12 yr old, I had tears in my eyes by the time it was over. And I don't care what anyone says: Mullet Bono was the coolest, sexiest cat on two legs back then. When it came to the libido and the conscience in the 80s, Bono was da man! Ah, the memories...
