You can get Continental food in Star hotels, in Ernakulam and Cochin twin cities you have Hotel Sealord and the Taj and there may be new additions of hotels which you can get from internet. In Trivandrum capital of Kerala there is the Muscat Hotel. You can get chinese food also from those palces. Kerala food is not toxic and you can order less spicy food. I am a Keralite but I don't eat spicy food either. Idly or Dosa with Chutney is innocent food but don't take Sambar which is hot

Maintaining lawn is a costly affair for average familis of Kerala,even I tried and dropped out of it. Only for the very rich it is possible.I am a Keralite and it is the best place on earth to visit,it's backwaters , temples and elephants ,Munnar, Devikulam, Perrmedu,Mattupetty, Vaithiri the Trissur Pooram and a lot more

I was born in Kerala 67 years ago and lived around elephants ,regularly attended Temple Festivals involving elephants,and no elephant crushed me. Look for Trissur Pooram and you will really enjoy it,there are 108 elephants in that famous festval

directly to Kottayam or if you are rich get a prepaid taxi to kottyam or Kumarakom , But if you are getting down at Kottayam by train get a 3 wheeler taxi to Kottayam KSRTC Bus Stand and buses are available to Kumarakom. If you have any more clarification needed e-mail me ,I am in USA now. What I wrote is for day time travel. There will be assistance available at Cochin airport by "Kerala tourisn dept"

Go to google,com type " Kumarakom lake resort" and you can book your room online. You may book your flight to Cochin airport. From there nearest Railway Station is Angamali and you can hire a three wheeler taxi to go there, From Angamali you may take a tcket to Kottayam town in sleeper class and you can sit in any reservation compartment of the train. You may take ticket in First calss or AC chair car if it is available but the ticket will be costlier. From Cochin airport there may be KSRTC bus

I have been to almost all states of India. I liked Kerala the best, then the north eastern states, and then Shimla (HP).Kerala is hot in Summer, but its also brightest and so full of life then...if you plan your trip in house boats, and low but comfy air conditioned cottages it is a wonderful bargain. I love the non vegetarian cusine and sea food there...the houseboats actually cook fish/food made to order that you buy off fishermen of nearby boats. Amazing and unique experience.

LOL...so you saw a movie, and decided that whole of India is 'Slumdog Millionaire'. While there no doubt are areas of misery in India, India is very diverse. Please google 'Kerala' and find out the 'good, bad and ugly' about it. You will find some fascinating and even unbelievable stats about this place which prompted National Geographic to include it in the list of 'must see destinations in a lifetime' (I blv it was in the top 10 of the list).The slums are in the big cities of India.
