Stones doesn't belong to a certain genre or I would call them genreless...they are the music it self....apart from metal and Synthesizer type of music they play everything!

Wow. "Pop" in the musical venacular is an abbreviation of "popular". So, it covers many genras. Any music that is topping the charts is obviously popular. Merle Haggard, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, all popular. The Stones were of the Rock and Roll genre. That came out of american blues. Most '60 rock groups were heavily influenced by blues acts from America. Muddy Waters, Carl Perkins, Little Walter, were all favored by British bands. Later, Little Richard, Bo Diddley, Fats Domino, etc.
