I have dozens of personal experiences..I used to sell real estate around DC, was referred to a Congressman..He wanted way too much for far too little money - $200K. He went away..2 years later, he left office..1 year later, friends came back from his house party, gloating - 5 acres, Great Falls VA, Congressional furniture..a $2Million house, just one year after he left Congress, when he couldn't afford more than $200K. I asked what he was doing - Lobbying - for whom - CHINA! 1990. Ethical? NO!

Agreed on Ron Paul -- he is one of the very few who directs his own activities and thoughts. The rest of the folks rely on advisers, staff, lobbyists, their respective parties....The congressman I worked with had 3 terms. One day, I asked him what happened, why he was no longer a congressma. He said voted his conscience, and eventually pissed off every special interest group, and ran out of money to run for re-election. He was never voted out of office. He just ran out of money to run....

You have to understand, there is a whole gaggle of people, bottom feeders, who feed inside "The Beltway". I grew up in Northern Virginia, as an 11 year old, cut a congressman neighbor's lawn. Worked with a former Congressman, etc..They're just your neighbors and friends when you live there.
