We watched this in our english class, and my teacher had never seen the "Full novel" version of the movie, which had this scene in it. She watched it, and even commented on how "They looked pretty gay there." & whenever pony and johnny got close. Of course, it does look a bit homoerotic or w/e, but I don't think it was supposed to be seen that way. I don't mind at all, I think it's adorable, and I love this scene(=

what ppl really dont understand is that Hintons novels are riddled with homoerotcism...being that she was a woman who grwew up in a time when gay was less common displays of affection between men where not considered to be an indicator of homosexuality(especially not between brothers...no incest in her novels) this was just a big brother comforting a little brother =(as a woman Hinton probably did not sense the homoeroticism) and im gay so i pay a lot of attention to it
