Great kid! He seems very bright and into what he is doing. My son has asperger's and is similar. He has his regimen and he is very pattern oriented. He is repetitive and does not like to veer from his routine or else he will get very frustrated.Thank you for the video.

Darky2007: Interestingly, at the age of 22..my so called "obesessions" haven't really changed and I am similar to your son. many of my "Obessions" have roots in old Poetry I still can recite from memory...it appears that everything I have done mediawise deals with the old poetry...Tell me...WHY must they be called Obessions ;;~ Serge(kitty)165

No he does not understand in all other situations as well. Its not as noticable in other situations, until you question him. He can verbalise himself well, but he does not understand a lot of what he is actually saying, he copies other people, conversations, tv etc. Borrows phrases etc. He is also very literal. Hes quite quiet and very shy, he mainly gets by well in school by this fixed smile, although his confidence is growing since getting a statement of educational need.

What you describe is known to psychologits as "magical thinking" - a disconnect in understanding of cause and effect relationships. Does he not understand cause and effect in other situations as well, or just with "magic" performances?
