english had the most powerfull but skill defenately goes to the mongols. they messed up so many nations with their archers in battle so many times its not worth counting.

@flyboy2000008 doesn't matter if its a small nation. if they have something thats rather conisdered world class then they would be well known as well

This is kyudo. "Do". Not kyujutsu. And the archery on horse back is Yabusame, so look it up on here and you will see it.If you listen to the comentary, it will explain what is going on.spopko and Shinotaro seem to be the only ones who have grasped the meaning . . .

? they had horses... have u forgotten about samurais? they RODE ON HORSES dumbass!

> ashthegreat said on 11-03-2009 at 08:07:

All this mumbo jumbo bullshit is nice and all... but personally I'd rather just hit the damn target. Preferably before I die of boredom.

when gunpowder came the bow "died" in war related trms and became a cermimonial art. When they used bows in war they shot thousands of arrows in a minute. They didn't aim in war.

> Shinotaru said on 10-23-2009 at 10:48:
I agree but this is not silliness ^_^this video depicts more on the art form and the actual shooting was used for combat and more like of the sport

> spopko said on 10-23-2009 at 07:58:
actually Kyudo was mistranslated (in the book zen and the art of archery)-when they talk about "it" shoots in regards to someone not doing anything, this was actually a mistranslation from "me" or "I"all the spiritual side came later on with different sects of zen buddhism, but the actual practice is better known as kyujutsu, which pertains to actual shooting, not this silliness

Thats exactly the state of body soul and mind pistol shooters in England used to use. Takes many years of pain, sacrifice, denial. Then Mr Blair came along and stole our works of art from us.. Ive been doing archery since then to keep everything in tune. But i know one day all these arts will be banned. Such a shame.

I just hope they didn't need to go through that ritual every time they needed to shoot an arrow back in the days of war. I'd rather shoot a thousand arrows without aiming and hit 3 guys rather than go through all that and hit 1 guy.
