Theres something magical about junkyards, like there are spirits there. I'd LOVE to see some of the American junkyards. Old American cars are the Best!!!!(From UK)

Detroit was the backbone of American industry and economics in the 30's, 40's, and 50's. artzeug I really appreciate your amalgamation of these exemplars with the Cars "Drive" - now Motown is in chaos. It has seemingly always been in it in some form or fashion for years. But Detroit still goes on - WE STILL DRIVE. I Love the Big Cars with all the chrome. THOSE DAYS ARE LONG GONE SINCE THE LATE 70's!!! NICE JOB. Are you from Boston?

"a much more loved 54-58 buick, pontiac, oldsmobile."Much more loved? By who, you? I for one have never heard of someone mention those when they talk about cars of the '50s. Maybe the '57 Chevy, the '53 Cadillac, the '59 Cadillac, the '58 Impala, the '58 Edsel (although it's definitely not one of my favorites), and the '57 Plymouth Belvedere. But not those other ones. Yes, they're extravagant, but that doesn't mean they're better than the Beetle.

Because it's one of the only cars that screams "personality", and it also happens to be my favorite car. If you want to get into factual details, the VW Beetle was the best-selling economy car ever in the U.S., with even higher sales than the Ford Model T. So there you go.

Why doesnt some wealthy person open a automobile plant and rebuild new ones of the old 56-58 buick designs for example. People love them, and we have to spend thousands restoring them, they can be made again. General motors should look into it

Why buy a car that general motors director titled in the 50s' "The little shit box" when you could restore a much more loved 54-58 buick, pontiac, oldsmobile. The dream cars of the 50s, space age in design, power features, those cars fully done up these days often sell over 100,000 $.
