Well, you can trust Wikipedia or you can trust inside knowledge. I happen to be a retired FBI agent and I knew Jerry Dove - trained with him in fact. Those men were meth addicts, but it was kept quiet in order to prevent copycat rampages when the drug was still misunderstood.

Wrong! off of wikipedia: Toxicology tests showed that the abilities of Platt and Matix to fight through multiple traumatic gun shot wounds and continue to battle and attempt to escape were not achieved through any chemical means. Both of their bodies were completely drug-free at the time of their deaths.

They were hopped up on crystal meth, which rendered them impervious to regular pain thresholds and physical limits. That's what is rarely mentioned in the media accounts.

I don't understand. Jerry Dove's bullet killed Platt (when he exited the vehicle through the window). Yet, Platt lived long enough to kill Jerry Dove and Ben Grogan and wounded several more FBI agents. Autopsy result shows Platt lung had collapsed on him and filled with about a liter of blood. He should have been dead. It doesn't make sense. I have followed this story since 1985-1986 and I still don't understand what kept Platt fighting when he was technically dead.

I feel perfectly safe with my 16 round .40 S&W and a couple of spare mags. Great penetration with the proper ammo. I carried a Colt 1911 for 18 years and felt safe with only 8 plus a few spares. But I really liked the good old .357 Mag. nothing on the human body was safe from that little round. During the summer I still opt for the snubbed .357 much easier to conceal and stainless just looks sexy.

I used to work valet in the building Jerry Dove lived in, on Miami Beach. I saw him two or three times a week when I would get his car. Super nice guy. I think he was only 35 or 36 when this happened. FBI agents just didn't get killed. Pretty shocking for me.

2:01 staying in the driver's seat in the middle of a firefight was not a goot tactical decision. He should have exited the vehicle and taken a position behind the car, closest to the rear differential.

Matix and Platt outgunned the weapons the FBI was fielding. This means the two suspects fire was more accurate and had better penetration. Superior firepower and tactics will almost always prevail over numbers to a point.

I have stood at the exact spot where this occurred, 12201 SW 82nd Street, Village of Pinehurst(then Kendall). The TV movie is not entirely realistic although it is quite gripping the first time you experience this. To really understand the event, you need to read the book by W. French Anderson, Medical Examiner, it's just amazing. Read Anderson's book and you'll doubt all calibers...and be absolutely amazed at where Matix really was during all of this!

i believe FBI unable to response effective fire is mainly due to military tactics of Matix and Platt. These two bad guys are well trained military vet. Especially platt hv been serve in special force. So they know well how to response and suppress enemy. I agree FBI was under gunned but they are outnumber to badguy 4 to 1.
