No, no. When Lois asks, "Why are you?" it's the movie sort of stepping outside itself and asking "Why do you exist?" (i.e. Why is there such a thing as Superman?) But, of course, in a real scene, that would be silly, so Lois quickly corrects herself and asks, "Why are you HERE?" Remember the movie's opening line: "This is no fantasy!"

I also get the feeling when Lois starts to ask, "Why are you here?", she means "Why are you here with me?" Just a thought...

Funny...Superman won't reveal his age, yet he'll reveal his height, weight, marital history, and whether he can see through lead...

Of course the first question Lois asks is, "Are you married?" Then, "Do you have a girlfriend?". Later..."The rest of your bodily functions are...Do you...eat?" We really know what she was asking.

This is so funny because Superman comes to see Lois, and then of course, "Clark" comes along after Superman leaves. He makes sure he "spends the night" with Lois (so to speak).

Read his touching biography written after his terrible horse accident in 1995 when he unfortunately became quadarplegic : Still Me edited to editions The Random House Publishing Group (USA) ISBN : 0-345-43241-X. Then, watch all his movies so that we dont forget him! Sincerely yours,Myriam

Enormous talent of Chris Reeve : actor (cinema and theatre), artistic director, writer, director of the Christopher Reeve Foundation. Attentive father of his 3 children. He wasnt only for 4-times the performer of Superman but he wonderfully played a lot of characters simultaneously in cinema and tv movies his repertoir filmographic was very impressive. In fact : handsome actor, talented, charismatic, sensitive, courageous, modest with a good sense of humour!

Aww, one of my favorite movies! And what talented and underrated actors they truly were/are. I think Margot is just adorable, and Christopher is timelessly handsome with those icy blue eyes...he was born for the role of Superman...no one will ever be able to play the part like he did. He will be forever missed.

It's like a real movie with real movie actors. Today's movies seem like tv shows.

If I remember right, he probably warmed her up at times using his heat vision. I know that was done a few times on the "Lois and Clark" TV series. And he probably flew fast enough that air friction would have kept her fairly warm. As for "mxpatriate"'s question, he was raised by his parents to ALWAYS tell the truth.

I agree this is a great scene. The whole damn film is the best! 2 things I don't understand: why would he reveal a weakness to be published (seeing through lead)and how does she know that he can see through anything if they haven't spoken before?

This scene and the flying scene exhibit what was missing in the "Returns" movie: JOY. The Lois-Superman relationship here is joyful, playful -just as all budding romances are. This will always be the best.
