4:49 - 5:15 is one of the best bits of music ever made, and it just happens to be in one of the best songs ever.

"Streetlight Manifesto"It just brings up old images from 'yesteryear' when the only way to disseminate propaganda was to stand on a street corner and hand out fliers or speak to the passers-by (sadly, Lee H. Oswald comes to mind).I think they're referencing the fact that they have something that, to them and many of us, is important information to get out to the public, but being mostly out of the public limelight, they feel like someone standing on the street corner, under the streetlight.

I agree with Chadwiggle - personally, I always saw it as a reference to some sort of mission a group of guys decided on late at night while sitting on a sidewalk under a streetlight.Plus, it sounds awesome

Lol!"Hey guys, you know, we sound just like the manifestation of a streetlight. Y'know like the spirit of an electrically charged metal pole descending upon California in a ethereal bomb of ska punk."..........."Woah, he's right."

something written on a piece of paper, something becoming clear and apparent.how are those two sentences the same thing? one could refer to the other, but that does not mean they are the same thing....come on man seriously?

or it could refer to the manifesto itself (the intent or ideas) not the event.but no it does not mean a streetlight, a metal pole, wrote a manifesto, or the manifestation of a streetlight (whatever on earth you mean by that).its a name of a manifesto. just like a tea party is the name of a party. it doesnt mean that tea leaves are dancing around and partying

and just assume you are right and they really meant 'manifestation of a streetlight'.....wtf does that even mean anyway?and please dont answer 'when a streetlight manifests itself'the name SM clearly refers to an event where people wrote a manifesto under or near a streetlight (meaning not in the daytime and not by someone who wouldnt be in the streets) now what that means is open to subjection. but at least get the basic syntax of two words correctly first before arguing

wtf are you talking about. you just said what i just said.and if people write down their intentions on paper, their intentions would become apparent and clear (theoretically) and therefore be manifested. which would make a manifesto a manifestation?

wtf are you talking about.a manifesto is when people get together and write down their intentions or principles on a piece of paper.a manifestation is something when it becomes clear or apparent.....far more abstract....when something has a name you cant just subsitute one word for another and be like "yea thats what they meant."

05:11:
actually you said similar sounding lol. " a public demonstration of power and purpose" = manifestation.so one could theoretically say a manifesto is a manifestation of "a written statement declaring publicly the intentions, motives, or views of its issuer" = manifesto. so aren't they pretty much the same?

while I get your point, cdsnatcher, your comparison is flawed. Right now, medicine can correct an imbalance, so it's treatable. Paralysis, on the other hand, is not correctable at this point in time.Comparing apples and bananas and calling them the same thing, just because they're both fruit, does not a truism make. And clinical depression is different from just being depressed, and I'll agree that most people these days think that they're the same, and they're not.
