A great video that really shines light onto some of the stupider things that lead to our consumeristic culture. Many people have great ideas that still allow us to have things we want while not creating more and more things that only end up in a landfill. Government regulations shouldn't be for the benefit of corporations - most companies get a bigger tax write off to dump products into a landfill than to donate them - what a waste of items that those in need could really use.

As for "sustainability" being "Green" is a luxury of wealth. You won't find strident green movements in third-world countries 'cuz they're pretty much occupied trying to figure out how to survive day to day. Destroy the wealth of the western countries and you'll see how quickly the Greenies will get overrun by those looking for food!

Another Leftist diatribe worthy Carl Marx. Providing for the "common defence" is the PRIMARY function of the federal gov't....it ought to consume the majority of the budget. The fact it doesn't simply means the gov't is spending on things the constitution doesn't authorize. It is NOT gov't's job to "take care of us".... the frames knew WE were capable of caring for ourselves if the gov't allowed us the inalienable right of liberty....a concept the left hates!

Ya, just like Hitler made it easy to understand the Jews. Who cares if it's all lies as long as ignorant people can understand it.

What propaganda. It is not the job of our government to take care of us. Original forest, we have more trees than in 1700. We don't take resources, they sell them to us. You are too stupid to upgrade your computer. These liberals want us to live like the stone age, not them, just us.

What an excellent and all inclusive critique of the corporate consumer culture ethos. Annie Leonard is simple enough for even pre-teen children to understand and profound enough to challenge the smartest and most sophisticated among us. In about 20 minutes she has given an agenda for action worthy of all people no matter their race, ethnicity, gender, or age. That kind of visionary rhetoric used to be the domain of political leaders until they decided to sell out. Bravo Annie Leonard!

If human ingenuity set to destroying this planet, we would do it. But, I believe, unless intentional, we will never see this planet just turn desolate.

Great stuff! What's most frightening, though, is how so many people find so many ways to delude themselves and deny the essential truth herein! Some people really need to get bashed over the head with reality before they recognize WTF is going on. I pray we won't destroy ourselves before all of us wake up.

A great little summary:It is good that she started out with an Apple product. I have had to toss around four models of Macintosh Apple computers so far, during that same time frame I have been using the same laptop PC and just upgrading the software. Which is actually a better machine? It looks like the PC is four times as good as an Mac. I never thought about it that way before. Good story.

Nice scare tactic! Let's propagandize our children and call it the "truth" without any data! This should not be allowed to be taught to our children!
