Everyone blaming the person mailing the check, remember, the check also sits in the mailbox of the payee. So it could get stolen from the mailbox it is delivered to, not just while sitting in your own mailbox, waiting to be picked up.

Who writes checks anymore? And for those that do, if you are stupid enough to leave a payment in your mailbox for pickup, you deserve to have this happen to you.

Doesn't it look like the routing & account numbers are marked through with a Sharpie? That didn't get erased, so why not just write checks with fine point Sharpies?
