No.1 joe and steve are both technically proberly better than hendrix,(doesnt mean there better) for example malmsteen is shit.No.2 steve uses alot higher effects levels than joe (this song is full of delay and wah and backround echo's etc...No.3 the fact joe uses less techniques than steve but still sounds original makes him more of a great musician. he can also play banjo, pianno, harps, bass.No.4 steve uses more strange technical riffs coz he music is strange!, satchs musics more phrased

i just gave everyone thumbs downs because who the hell do you think you are saying either joe satriani or steve vai sucks??? they are both amazing in their own light and are both very unique and innovative players. to say who is the best is a matter of oppinion. if i like gay emo punk rock, i would think blink 182's guitarist is the best. my point is, there is no best in music, but for me, there is only amazing virtuosos who play in the same league as vai (JB, MF, JmcL, GG, JP, etc)

There's a difference between playing fast and playing well. Satriani consistently plays well and almost never plays fast, even though he can. Vai almost never holds back, and his music suffers for it.
