The members of Bowling for Soup are good friends with the band SR-71. In fact, Bowling for Soup's hit song "1985" was originally written by SR-71's Mitch Allan. According to Reddick, Allen showed the song to him and instructed him to take it as his own, as it seemed more of a Bowling for Soup song than an SR-71 song. from wikipedia

I LOVE this version! SO much more cynical and mean! . The other one is like "Oh, mom's not cool!" and this one is like "bitter aging woman" Mitch must have hated some crazy woman to be inspired to write this

this song was made first by Sr-71 and included in their album they only launched on Japan. In fact it is a great cd. Then Bowling for soup asked Alan to make a cover for the song.In the end i like this song mote than BFS

Almost as bad as people thinking BFS wrote Stacy's Mom... Or Sum 41 wrote Right Now. Which could be possible If they traveled Into the past, and killed mitch, and put on his skin. Then Stayed in his body... I could see that.

I have to wonder, How many of you who think bowling for soup did this, have seen the bowling for soup music video of 1985? Mitch Allan makes a Cameo in that video... It would be weird if Mitch traveled into the future, appeared randomly on set, liked it, then went back into the past to make his version. I dunno, It sounds reasonable.
