Just a small observation: this tune is called 'Spain' - and yes it is played beautfully in a latin/jazz/fusion style. BUT there is so much Brazilian influence. I'd go so far as to say that this is basically a Brazilian samba with some salsa thrown in (some fantastic salsa piano phrases by Joe Sample!!!!). And of couse in Brazil people speak Portuguese. So this version should be called: Spain/Portugal.

Al Jarreau together on stage with two gods: Steve Gadd on drums and Joe Sample on piano. Doesn't get better than this. Fantastic!

This is great - Al's passion stands out! Sample's solo is very rich harmonically and rhythmically, but at times it comes out as "rushed" at times - he strives to fit in it all the notes in his head! Gadd's playing is straight forward, simple in a good way, and interesting as always

Improper use of "never," but of course we know what you mean, LOL.

One of the best takes of Al and friends on this old Chick "standard." I gotta agree with Billboer. Sample rips this tune. His subtle definition of the chord changes while he is blasting away on the rhythm is just delightful, and yes, Steve Gadd is at his best. . .

You would expect something special with such a dream team of players. And Al is wonderful as always. But Gadd and particularly Sample is SICK!!! I think I've got an ear orgasm. At 4:02 your wondering where is he going. But he ties it up nicely at 4:08.

Oh what I'd give to hear and see this in person! This man can bring on the Sun on a Rainy Day! His voice is like pure water quenching the desert dryness of long needed wonderful sounds. We need to hear more of his sounds in this life it is good for the soul!
