As for the "mass infantry" dismissal,...such actions have been seen beyond WWII. Korea and Vietnam are two instances where the US was present. It's also seen in other conflicts that don't always make the primetime news. Iran-Iraq War for instance. Also, "mass infantry assault" doesn't necessisarily mean "screaming hordes as far as the eye can see", but simply large numbers (platoon+) dismounts assaulting, as can happen with complex ambushes.

Well, it was designed with urban fighting in mind. XM1028 was specifically tested for dealing with close terrain to include urban settings and the leathality it has for targets behind obstacles. Given it's being fired from a 120mm cannon, that's more power then a shotgun will possess. I myself was looking at the video to include the early shot of the spread. Even as it left the barrel, there was some of the 1150 tungsten balls spreading out low, and the target shot at the end shows good spread.

True, looks like it can be very usefull against wired missiles. But in city streets? I'd doubt it. Maybe to scare the shit out of an unexperienced tank hunter, but by looking at the traveling time and buckshot like effect, one can hide pretty easily behind a thick wall or even just prone @ 100-200m."counter mass infantry assaults" like those we havent seen since ww2 in russia? lol

Why aren't we using them on the villagers in Afghanistan? They are harboring the enemy and if you believe otherwise, you lost the war already.

I've heard about these round before, But never seen one in action! sweet video post! On a side note Tungsten is one of the most dense, and hardest metals on earth.. I'm pretty sure each and every one of those pellets will have no problem traveling through a brick house, or a vehicle no problem!

Well, first off these rounds were requested BY the tankers. Canister you don't have to be as accurate and works very well in confined spaces like city streets. It's main purpose is to counter massed infantry assaults and deal with tank-hunter teams. Someone is popping an RPG or you spy the launch of an ATGM then you don't have time to precisely lay fire or walk rounds onto target. This will sweep an entire area clear, potentially even knocking down an incoming ATGM (or ruin the gunner's aim)

The wad of that thing looks more lethal than the pellets. Either way a few of those things flying towards you will ruin your day in a hurry.

Well its simple politics really. America depends on peace, and we have a way of life that will not take a backseat to any compromise to it.
