a great place to get jo staves is kingfisher woodworks. They make excellent bokken, so the jo staff i just ordered should be top notch, too. Pricy, especially the hand cut weapons, but worth it imho. Practiced kashima shinto ryu, shinto muso ryu and bujinkan for many years. The jo is definitly my fav classical weapon, more so than even the sword. I hope my form ends up as good as these lads. Thanks for the post!!

Cool stuff,Namitome Sensei comes almost every year to Canada to teach Jodo. He is amazing, but he's now got a bad knee and will retire shortly to get it fixed.

What's with the caps? You're upset since it was a "set-up"? Any idea about what the term "kata" means? No? Oh, that's too bad. Please

Yuppers. Otofuji Ichizo is the man in white holding the sword. Not bad considering he must have been around 80 years old when this film was made. He lived to be 99 years old and died in 1998. The Japanese are made of some pretty strong material :-).

The dojo looks to be the Meiji Jingu Kendojo, just off Harajuku.
