I think it has to do with him being three sheets to the wind and lacking some front teeth. :0) But it is a good song and they did do a good job.

Shane McGowan -- proving once again that having a full set of teeth is totally over-rated. I mean if you've got three or four teeth and a good back-up band...you're good to go.

Shane MacGowan was 1 of the best......In the 80's. Problem is he snorted & drank his excellence away.

Shane left the Pogues because he was miserable. He was burned out & wanted to tour less. Also, other band members were pushing to play a style he thought was not the real deal so he refused. The most prolific writer and arranger of the group, he needed to stop & rest but the others refused, so he drank himself silly until he had to leave. After he left, they were not as popular. The band should have taken better care of their most valuable member instead of resenting him and burning him out.

Shane wanted out of the Pogues because he was miserable. The band toured incessantly & some members were pushing to play a different style of Irish music that Shane thought was not the real deal so he refused. The most prolific song writer & arranger of the group was burned out & sick. His requests to tour less ignored, he drank more heavily until he had to leave. Once he left, the band was no longer as popular. They should have protected their most valuable member better.

Shane was once kick out of the Pogues, thoroughbredcrazy. He joined the Popes after that, but thankfully he's back in the Pogues.

Actually, Shane MacGowan was with both The Popes and The Pogues. As stated in the description, the original was done with The Pogues and The Dubliners. So, this could be with either Pogues or Popes. Now those freaking out, calm down and take a cold shower. The title is not necessarily incorrect. And as for the song itself, it's my favorite by Shane. So thanks for posting the vid!
