His batting average, home runs and on-base % went way up. His other skills declined (defense and base-stealing).When I wrote "before steroids," I just meant that he was the best all-around legit player I've ever seen. Of course he was amazing after steroids but lots of players were amazing on steroids. The #s put up from 1999-2007 (or maybe 1999-2004) by Barry Bonds are tainted and, thus, not worthy of consideration IMO.

Jordan was a much bigger winner than Chamberlain (who was great nonetheless). Pedro Martinez in his prime is the best starting pitcher I've ever seen and Pujols and Bonds (before steroids) are the best position players I've seen.My grandfather played briefly in MLB in 1932 and said Lefty Grove was the best pitcher he faced.

Maybe, Sandy Koufax can NOT be over looked.Tiger Woods plays chumps, put Woods in Jack Nicklaus group and Woods would have a much bigger challenge.Lance Armstrong. Marshall Taylor, you must be high. This is a tough one, but the only one's I think could match Ali were Jack Johnson and Marciano. You can have Wilt, I will take Jordan.More of the same as in you only see Black? Need to wake up.

It's true Paige dominated against many of the white major leauge players in exhibitions,He also got knocked around by them at times.Jimmy Foxxx hit a couple of monster homers off him in a game for one small example.Everyone including Satchel has thier ups and downs.Satchel was still the best pitcher ever.Nolan Ryan speed with Greg Maddux smarts and savvy.Doesn't get much better than that.

Why not? He pitched for almost 4 decades. 4! And many players who witnessed his skills agreed to what they saw and many historians felt the same way. Riddle me this Batman, if it wasn't true about his skills then why the fuck is he in the Hall of Fame?

Trust me I know about the majors asshole I know all about the "they didn't always keep the stats" thing but I hear these numbers that he had 1,000 wins and a trillion Ks how CAN YOU PROVE IT? is all I ask....Because of what people say? Yeah that can't get blown out of proportion quickly.....I'm not trying to start any thing with you or discrediting Paige I just think these numbers shouldn't be thrown out as facts

Okay...you obviously don't know much about the history of Major League Baseball. Because of the racist white major league owners didn't want Blacks playing in the majors, they would opt for aexhibition games sometimes before, during and after the regular baseball season. So, YES: Paige pitched to DiMaggio and all those other great players many times before Jackie Robinson arrived in 1947. Seriously, what do you know? You're like, what? 18? Shut the fuck up and read a book.

Like I said I know he had to have been a great pitcher but when Dimaggio faced Paige he hadn't even been called up to the major yet

Well a lot of baseball historians, Black and White, saw him pitch. And when he pitched against the white major league players, he'd dominate. DiMaggio said that Paige was the greatest pitcher he'd ever faced. That's JOE DiMAGGIO would said that.

Yeah I mean it's pretty obvious that he was a great pitcher but to say these stats like they are fact is kind of ridiculous when no one has any actual proof
