I did get a raise when it was brought to the employer's attention. My company is very specialized and small, there is no competition. Again, you are using studies which are easily flawed and manipulated while I'm using empirical evidence of my own experience and that of other people. I can't really take a study seriously that I've never seen. If you feel the need to write something more, post it to my page and stop taking up room on this board which has nothing to do with your obsession.

by the way, in the same studies that show that women make less, when they control for all the aspects it's a virtual tie. actually, never married women with no kids make more than never married men, on average. another thing, you can thank your government for making companies pay for maternal leave. you have to include the cost of the risk of that in your pay.

employers pay anyone as low as they can. if you suck at negotiating your wage, it's nobody's fault. hell, if you're so productive and hard working, i'm sure the competition of your employer would like to have you because if you're paid less for more work, youd give them a competitive advantage. so go and talk to your employer and tell him that you're quitting and going to the competition. if you're such a great employee, they'll give you a raise to keep you.

Oh really, because I've been paid less at jobs where my work was rated higher than those of male co-workers who had the same job title and experience. I work more hours than they do. Throw all the statistics at it that you want, but it's not a stupid myth. Employers admit to paying women less just because they can get away with it, not because there is a gap in quality of work. Women aren't "taking less" because they think it's right, they aren't allowed to ask what their co-workers make.

women are paid the same if you control for hours worked, willingness to work on holidays and so on - if you control for all the factors, there's no difference. the wage gap is a stupid myth. if i was a business woman and women were taking less money for the same results, i would have hired only women and i would have had a huge comparative advantage.

No, sweetheart, by gender equality I mean that women are paid equally for doing the same job. I don't think equal pay for equal work is "leftist garbage." Next time you go on a little rant you might want to learn what you're ranting about first.

Actually, they're a quite well educated and highly cultured society. I believe they have one of the highest literacy rates in the western world and are consistently in the top 5 countries which have gender equality in the workplace. This is a travel show, so they pull together all of the weirdest bits of a country to make it seem like a wacky vacation destination.
