Yeah, the U.S.A. IS the world leader except when it comes to leaving petroleum dependency....It is the IMPERFECTION of our capitalist system to BE LAST when it comes to hurting the car companies OR the oil companies.....Those are CAPITAL sins.....Oil companies have gotten away with MURDER, and so have car companies, but their days are numbered.....Pay back IS a bitch......We will see new sources of fuel VERY soon.......

Project better place could only work in a country as small as Israel. There will be no competition, no innovation, and no choice. To think this would work in the US or other large countries is naive.

Israel makes sense as the first place to try this out on a mass market, the Arabs have most of the oil and they don't much like Israel, it's also a smart move as peak oil is becoming an issue

Wow .. a real electric car and infrastructure .. It's much needed in all countries, so it is nice to see Israel lead in this project. But why wait three years till 2011? The technology exists now and production can begin anytime.
