Well you have no brain to defeat if you believe aikido to be true...im a boxer and my gym has defeated every martial arts in the city...aikido, karate, tko, kung fu, their all bullshit comparing to MMA.I crushed a 12 year practice aikido student, first round, no sweat.

And do not compare pears with apples please. In boxing the concept of the space combat is almost nonexsistent because it uses a full frontal technique. Aikido come from a combat reality, from budo, from dayto ryu aiki jujutsu, from the samurai art, where the space is vital. Boxing (or kickboxing and muay thay) are a completely different thing about aikido. Almost only hit but less intelligence about other fight factors. You can be a hit machine but you never gonna be able to defeat the brain.

In boxing ( or kikcboxing) you soon can get, relatively, good fighting skills. But as soon as you have reached all the knowledge of that discipline. And this must to be compensated with a full training so you can envelope great reflexes because in this it's based basicly the boxing. In aikido or jeet kune do it's longer the way of learning you have to do. So the amount of knowledge it's much bigger. If yoi only wants to go to bars to kick ass, go ahead "smart guy" choose the boxing.

why will they never show real akido? they claim because it is to dangerous... i think there full of shit, i think they just dont really have anything. a good westler will never get taken off balance like this guy is.

No real style is better or worse than the other. Everyone that studies in Martial Arts. Should as Bruce Lee said "Take what works for you and throw the rest away". Judo, Karate, Aikido , Kung Fu etc. I mean the saying goes. There is always some one bigger and better. Though I might mean some one in a fight one day. Does not mean the next fight I have is in the bag. Respect all styles thats what I say.

I'm with you man. In my first post I state that kickbox (and boxing) would be tough to beat. And Aikido is no match for a trained fighter. They need to train in something else. I agree.

falcon, But what if they guy you are fighting does know how to box or kickbox? Isn't it better to train in a style where you can defend yourself against skilled and unskilled strikers as opposed to a style that assumes people will lunge at you like a moron? In fairness to Aikido, I think if someone grabs you, it will work.

And still with AiKiDo, u can't do shit to them, even if they don't know how to box, kick or what ever. Aikido is shit and you all know it. I know it, I trained it. Only martial art from Japan I respect is JJ. BJJ is, this days, so important to study. But none of that will make you good fighter if you don't know Kick Boxing,Muay Thai or even just Boxing. Cause those are the basics. In AiKiDo they forget the basics, thats why its so big wast of time and money indeed.

Oh, you don't have to convince me the virtues of MMA training. I was warned of the deficiencies of aikido way back when I started. I also study BJJ, JJJ, and some judo. As popular as MMA is, I still think most dudes in a bar will have zero training, and may throw a wild punch or 2 before the trained fighter dominates, whether with stikes or grappling. Aikido really should be part of a bigger toolbox though.

it wasnt a real aikido fight... the person that posted up this video didnt make any sense at all and its kinda stupid for you to believe this is a real fight... It was an acting, a demostration...

falcon, I hear what you are saying, and I agree that some form of submission grappling is good to know. But, keep in mind that MMA is quite popular and people who go to bars often have some training in how to throw a punch. If you go to an MMA gym or boxing gym and try out your Aikido, I think you'll be shocked at how ineffective Aikido is. Also, Steven Segal, the number 1 ranked Aikido black belt in America, got his ass kicked by Gene Lebel, Judo guy, who was like 30 years older than Segal.

I'll agree that kickboxing would be a tough style to beat, but I'd still rather know Judo, Aikido, or Jujitsu that not know anything at all on the street. Chances are, the guy you fight won't be trained in shit.

and certainly every drunk fool who messes with you at the bar will be a trained boxer. All the bars I go to require you to have at least 3 years boxing experience to get in. You have to do 2 mins on the speed bag hanging in the door to prove it.

Thats is what Im talking about... Only good "Martial Arts" for street is one and only KickBox. KickBox is only thing that is working on concrete fighting... So if if you are good kickboxer, no Aikido, Judo and any other could do shit to you.

hamko6, I agree. No one is going to come out you with their arm in the air like in this demonstration. A boxer throws quick, balanced punches in combination. An Aikido practitioner wouldn't know what hit him.

"Real" Aikido is the most stupid martial art... Traditional Aikido is slight better. But this one, made by Serbian dude could never be good martial art... Its fake, it gives you fake confidence in your abilities and it could never make you a winner in street fight.

Most of the time when dojos do demonstrations, its done both slow (so as to "demonstrate" the technique) and slightly wrong. I have read many top instructors say this, from hatsumi sense of ninjutsu to aikido, iaido and bojutsu masters. the way they do techniques in the dojo differs to demonstrations.
