You are joking right? There was segregation in the US armed forces up until 1948. There were entire battalions of African Americans that fought in WWII but African Americans were still segregated from whites. You sir are the dummy.

The same soldier or sailor may be in a "no quarter" mood, or spare prisoners and offer them food and cigarettes, depending on the circumstances. In both WWs, men who had seen their pals killed treacherously by disguised enemies, or who were under the stress of kamikaze, tended to be merciless. The difference with the Japs or the SS was that these were ALWAYS merciless.

Geneva Convention : Prisoners of War Section 1, Article 2,It is interesting to see that America has signed but never abides by the geneva convention, and yet are never held responsible for their actions. One day the tables will be turned and I hope for all our sake the rest of the world doesn't treat us how we treat others, America, Land of the free and home of the brave. If only we still lived by our convictions.

That illustrates almost exactly the thinking that started the war in the first place. How do you know what he would have done?It seems a ridiculous and arbitrary thing to end his life for, especially when he was defenseless in the water. How many unarmed crews of merchant vessels had the foresight to get grenades before a submarine torpedoed them?Ridiculous. Indiscriminate killing gave us the Laconia Order.

They did do the same to us, not to mention the Bataan Death March, the Rape of nanjing, China etc. etc. etc.USA also rescued Japanese sailors that did not want to be rescued. Shooting of survivors was ordered for a period when japanese sailors being rescued at sea detonated grenades killing/harming the rescuers.

actualy it think footages like this should be showed at schools so people would think of what its worth before blindly joining the navy. the scene with japanese soldier asking for pick up, made me realize that war to most of us seems like fair argument of killing that man in the water. normally we would think of it as a crime, not speeking of common sense.
