Those of you who think you're better drivers because your snow is deeper should STFU. You don't know what you are talking about. What makes this dangerous is that it is very slick ice and it is right at the melting point of water so there is a nice lubricating surface. It's much worse than your wimpy snow.Having said that, I also have to say we have a lot of idiots. Driving on ice without chains or studs is moronic. And yes, slamming on the brakes is stupid. Why americans don't have real winter tires with thorns. Now I see shit not tires. Today I drive '93 Ford Mondeo (european) with Hankook winter tires on rear and Fulda thorn tires on front axle. All city streets weren't clean after all night snow, because goverment don't have enough money. But I have more grip than these drivers because I drive carefully and don't block wheels (in car wasn't ABS but with MT) and brake with engine not with brakes.
