yes, obviously that's the case because nobody from the human race abandons their babies in a dumpster on prom night..and gerbils don't eat their young either.. it's a shiny shiny pretty world were everyone acts nice and doesn't abandon their young for no reason =)

I'm guessing the mother abandoned the poor bear cause the melting of the ice was not only destroying the habitat but reducing the FOOD SOURCE! ( Did your light bulb's explode yet)?

smarteecatThe U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service estimates that the polar bear population is currently at 20,000 to 25,000 bears, up from as low as 5,000-10,000 bears in the 1950s and 1960s. A 2002 U.S. Geological Survey of wildlife in the Arctic Refuge Coastal Plain noted that the polar bear populations may now be near historic highs.

smarteecat"Polar bears are on that one last block of ice but the facts,(and I know I don't have cute song to sing along side my comment) just released by NOAA last week are that the polar bear ice shelf, the ice the sea ice shelf is at the second largest point it has ever been, unprecedented growth in the last year.

you know the majority of cubs who are rejected by there mothers are taken in to care like this, and there is normally a keeper who is designated within the first 2 years to solely care for them.even though it may come across as a form of domestication, but in reality, the cub needs affection in any form for it to properly develop,i can understand what you mean but you must understand its necessary for the bear to grow.once fully grown, he shall be put into a more naturalistic state.
