Not just kids, but anyone who has respiratory problem. Whether these issues are caused by an obstruction that makes other airways impossible to put in or a premature birth with underdeveloped airways a tracheostomy is one of the most invasive airways that can be put in. Even when another means of airway can be used, if the patient is going to have that airway in for a long period of time, they may go with a Trach over having an uncomfortable tube down their mouth and throat for months at a time.

kids need trachs for all sorts of health concerns, not to do with being around smokers, maybe they were born premature or born with a health issue.

Your daughter is such a good girl - Sebastian is 2 & has had his trach since he was 2 months old. He is so wiggly when we change his trach, we now have to wrap him in a blanket sop he won't try & "help me". Our next step is trying to decannulate. He just got off the vent last month. Hopefully your little girl can get decannulated soon. Best of luck to you & your family!

Your daughter is very cute! God bless her. I have a former 25 weeker who is trached. She has subglottic stenosis but her lungs are good. We are praying that the surgery she will get next spring will work so that she could be decannulated (by her 2nd b-day). Thanks for sharing your video. It's very helpful for parents who are new to this and for people who have no idea what this is about. Thanks and god bless.

This is Peyton's mom, I didn't say hardy in the back - it cut me off - I was saying "party in the back" because her hair is so long it looks like a mullet.

Thanks for commenting on our page. Your daughter is super cute! I love her curly hair. I like this video especially because it gave me some hints when I change her trach. Do you have a carepage or a caringbridge page?
