1. The best part of this movie is Lauren sitting in the background, eating what might be cat cookies.2. The second best part is the crazy responses you got from Dominikwhatshisname.3. Was I the friend? There was some bullshit in that movie, but a lot of truth too. What they showed about Canada is totally true. Even when we had to wait a long time, it was still good.

I need to see Sicko. I know that I will get really upset, especially with what is going on with my insurance. They have already told me that they plan on rescinding my benefits which will leave me tens of thousands of dollars in debt because of a surgery that they gave me the go-ahead for. I am fighting it, of course, but I'm left feeling pretty helpless because my financial future is in their hands. I love you. Thanks for posting!

Kirsten! I missed your laugh, your joke was cute. I have not seen Sicko, but heard good things. Health care is fucked, even when you have insurance, you're fucked because having insurance is only good when you're healthy. When you're sick they don't want to cover anything. On a lighter note. I hope you had fun on the fourth with the pops. I saw Live Free of Die Hard. You should see it, it is fun and funny. I hope you and Lauren are enjoying your summer.

Yeah, I just wish my mom in Texas had the same care. She has no insurance. I think if the majority of people in the US knew what it was really like here or elsewhere in Europe there would be a revolution!

Wow. That's really impressive. Sometimes I think that it would be smart to move. But I think I would feel guilty. Thanks for your comment.

As far as your friend is concerned, you can tell him I usually get an appointment at my doctor on the same day or next day when I call them. THe emergency room in the hospital the wait is like 30 minutes to an hour. Prescription drugs cost 10 bucks no matter what it is, but is free if you are unemployed.

THere is definitely going to be a big change in the US system soon, and it will get a little better, but the insurance companies will find a way to stay in the game.

I am an American and a Texan, and I have lived in the UK for the last seven years. My health care experience has been so much better than in Texas. The big myth is that there is so much more red tape in socialized systems, but actually the reverse is true! My doctor is great and 100% free.

I wish we could get that here. I'm glad to hear a real person in the UK write about the system. I completely agree that it is the best solution. Americans are just afraid of anything with the word "social" in it...social security, socialism, etc.I wonder if I will see a change in the healthcare system in the US in my lifetime.

A well-funded socialised health-care system is the best all-round solution. That is what we have in the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, there are many individuals who want to see it fail and replaced by a wholly privatised system. For many years hospitals were underfunded and waiting times grew longer. People demanded that more funds be injected into the system and today it is returning to normal. You must always fight to keep the wolves away, if you get my drift.
