An Average Price would be $2000 to $2500.

A 70's Dove can go for as little as $1000 in rough shape or as high as $4000 in new condition. If it is actually a 60's guitar it is worth more.

I don't really know the whole story, but I know they only make a very limited number. It has become almost impossible for us to get Gibsons and I've heard the company is for sale.

Thanks. I used to come to College Station a few times each year. My daughter graduated from A&M a few years ago. CS is a fun place. Hope the Aggies can take care of UT this weekend.

Not that much unfortunately. I have one, which I love, but that era... 69-78 or even a bit later, is regarded as one of the poorer quality instruments.... problems with bracing and general quality. Mine has had one fairly minor issue, and sounds wonderful. View my "1975 Dove sound check" video to see it.

Yes, they do a nice job on maple, but I have a 615CE Taylor Jumbo that has a great low end also.

You just have to be sure and play a lot on whatever you have. If you get to be a great player on an Ibanez, you'll be a fabulous player on a Gibson!

For some reason Gibson is the only maker I've noticed who can do justice to maple. Other makers' maple guitars just sound harsh and clattery.
