Actually "yotsu-take" (Japanese) or "yuchi-daki" (Okinawan), are the bamboo castanets held, one set in each hand. "Yotsu" means 4 and "Take" is bamboo, referring to the two sets of wooden bamboo pieces held and clacked together in each hand. ^_^ Great video, btw.

Those are "sanba" - an Okinawan percussion instrument somewhat like castanets. "San" meaning 3... "Ba" meaning "slabs" or "flat-pieces" for lack of a better translation. It refers to the 3 pieces of wood strung together which are held between the fingers and played by flicking or tapping.

Please check out my other videos about travelling to Okinawa. Just seach for "Agileh" and "Okinawa." I am working on a series of podcasts highlighting the island. I'm starting on the north end and working my way south to the WWII peace memorial.
