And all the cable companies across the country carried the super stations as they were in their home markets, no SyndEx crap.

Because WTBS Atlanta was a Superstation and carried the Braves for years -- as recently as 2007!

No -- TBS used to be a satellite feed of WTBS from Atlanta. Braves games were available on cable from the late '70s through 2007.

Go to remember the old super stations were taking off in the 1980s with the advent of cable. Channels like WTBS and WGN.

It was the 80s, it was back when WTBS in Atlanta was in it imfamousy with Braves baseball, reruns of Beverly Hillbillies and Wrestling. For the longest time all we got was WPIX, WWOR, WTBS our local stations and that was really it.

oh... by Braves do you mean Boston Braves? If so it must have been between 1962-1966 the only years they were in Boston when the Mets existed.

I remember first getting cable in Upstate NY when I was 8. We got the stations from NYC. WTBS had the Braves, WPIX had the Yankees and WWOR had the Mets. Since that day been a Mets fan ever since.

Because you're just too cool to take them seriously, right? Everything is "cheesy" and can be enjoyed in an ironic, somewhat superior way. Often the "cheese" factor is increased by sincerity and wholesomeness, which are characteristics scoffed at by the Too Cool for School set.

How about the 1987 Mets theme, "Let's go Mets; Let's do it again," although they fell short of doing it another time? Thanx.
