I think you're forgetting that when Rossi went to Yamaha, they were far from being the best team. He left Repsol Honda during the peak of their climb to ride for Yamaha, which many experts at the time thought was absolutely crazy.

I'm not gonna please you and go into an endless and utterly useless discussion,I'm just gonna say.Freddie Spencer was a beast, and a remarkable rider, but so is Valentino, and those two have ridden totally different machines, within a time gap that is huge indeed. But what remains valid is,that they both are GREAT riders!

Not to be a dickhead, but he's always sliding...Great rider really, just makes those darn mistakes too damn often!

Good point viasevenvai, and of course on the 50% theme Fast Freddie won 50% as many championships as Rossi has to date and he's probably got a few more to win too!

I think there is no such thing as "the exact same bike." There's always a difference. Why can't the rider be 50% and the bike be 50% of the outcome?? Wouldn't that end all this argueing?

buckwheat40 - How do you explain Rossi's 3 world championship wins on a Honda then???

are you comparing tools to a fucking bike??? hahahaha If you have a great bike you will have a great chance to win the race. If you have a poor bike you will have much less chance of winning!! I give Yamaha much greater importance in ROssi's success than Rossi himself.

buckwheat40 - "You can't blame Freddie for Honda's mistakes" - A bad workman blames his tools. You are dreaming mate you do realise that don't you? Spencer was good, Rossi is legendary and thats a big difference

You can't blame Freddie for Honda's mistakes. You put a great rider on a piece of shit he's gonna lose, no matter how great he is. Rossi is racing on the best bikes, Yamaha is making faster, more powerfull bikes right now. I would love to see a race with Rossi and Spencer on the same exact bike. Lets see what happens then!

you are just joking right? americans are the best riders, really? take a look at wiki list of Grand Prix motorcycle world champions, yes a few Americans are there but nothing compered to the Italians and the British (but only of the earlier years). The Italians (despite my hate towards their in your face, smug attitude) i have to admite they have most of the best riders in the world! and by the time freddie was 30 he had his name there 3 times rossi 6 times and still going!

buckwheat40 - if thats true why did spencer never have the kind of success Rossi has? His record looks rather small in comparison!
