Probabily, the main character is inspred by Gustav Mahler,he has the same name, the small home on the Austrian Alps and the death of his beautiful daughter. The platonic love for the handsome boy is intense, tormenting and struggling. The epilogue is moving and offers you a lot of important thoughts to think about.Bravo Luchino Visconti!

I have just finished watching Morte a Venezia: a real masterpiece!Think that I bought this DVD in order to listen to Mahler's Symphonies, that accompany Venice's images, but this idea of mine, even though exciting, was very reductive, limiting. Not yet, I had never listened to the meditations of the two musicians, that introduce you to the new happenings, as they come after each other.

Probably the greatest match in film history between music and moving image. It is as if almost Mahler's adagio and the Venice canals are one.

it's v. simple. he said, as you can see, 'do not put in writing your opinions on Visconti' i.e. i am not allowed to express my opinion because it differs from his. that is all i took issue with. do you think it right to censor the opinions of others re: art?

When you express any opinion on You Tube, you're going to get the good & the bad. If you express positivity 9 times out of 10 you'll get BACK positivity. If you expressive negativity, 9 times out of 10 you'll get BACK negativity. The statement still stands: If you can't take it, don't post it. Period.

if i can't take what? rude criticism for voicing a different opinion? and where exactly did i say "eutuve" couldn't express his opinion?

You're allowed to express it. & "eutuve" is allowed to express criticism. If you can't take it, then don't say it.

beautiful music, terrible directing and acting. look at his face when the music swells. ham acting me thinks. and if in any doubt about bogarde read his letters which were embarrassingly bad.

even the beginning is disturbing... it's obvious that this man is really devastated by life in general! Very good film, but very disturbing until the very end of it...

La dirección de esta película por Luchino Visconti es magistral, lo que hace de ella una gran obra de arte del cine.
