Je, je... pues parece que no, a ninguno nos pasó nada, y ahora tengo 55 años. Recuerdo que rompíamos los termómetros para coleccionar el mercurio. Hacíamos cascadas de mercurio, lo limpiábamos pasándolo a presión a través de un pañuelo formando una bolsa y apretando, etc., etc. Y en las minas de Almadén tenían balsas enormes de mercurio y dejaban a las visitas sumergir las manos en ellas. Es curioso, en las localidades en donde hay mercurio nativo no parece afectar

skin contact with mercury isnt toxic, but mercury vapor is highly toxic, so you shouldnt play with it when you breath the vapour.

Mercury vapors are what is the most dangerous. like the prof. said the vapors kills destroy the neurons in your brain. The metal itself, I'm not totally sure but, I think it is poisonous, either what I wouldn't be playing with it or putting it on your skin.
