I agree, but you have to look at the advancement of music in the years James played versus when Jaco played. Musicianship had grown tremendously from the 60's to the 70's when Jaco played. Also I believe playing with weather report challenged Jaco to find new ways to express himself which lead to a more innovative approach. Believe me I know Jaco was phenomenal, but Jamerson changed the whole approach to the bass. He was just the pioneer of it all. Much respect to you my fellow music critic.

Marvin didn't die from drugs, he died beacause his dad shot him because of a dispute they had with eachother.
