I purchased the D-42 over the OM-42, and yes the bass is deeper. I have no regrets, as I believe that I purchased the better sounding instrument. If it were a matter of looks and just overall playability, I personally prefer something with a cutaway(electronics would be bonus). Martin dose not make a D-42 with a cutaway so it was an easy decision for me.

Amazing sound. It's sheer perfection. I tried a lot of guitars and I must say, Martin's are the best. I'm considering buying a 000-15S... But I was wondering if they were reliable... Anyway the sound of your guitar is so deep and bright and soft. The perfect balance...

Thank you Levi, You were absolutely right on the differences between Nonoweb and Polyweb for the D-42

I'd stay away fro the Polyweb strings... the Nanowebs are much, much more alive. Polywebs muddy the tone.

Recently bought the D41 over the D42, The D42 had more overtones and the D41 had more Clarity, so i picked the 41, However i discovered the Difference between the D41 or D42 and the D45 is basically aesthetic. Those pearl inlays are pricey.Mr Pregnant..!

Hi!I used Martin non-coated SP strings on this guitar, 013-056. This guitar was a true stunner!! To be honest it's a "one of a kind" Martin D42... strings really won't matter on this example IMHO :-)

I have a 2008 D-42 but it does not sound like that. I tried Martin SP and Elixir Polyweb. Can you post which strings you have on your D-42 please. Your D-42 sounds just beautiful.
