Well if youre talking about ALL of the native languages spoken in the Philippines as a group, it's "Filipino."Tagalog is just one of those "Filipino" dialects. And yea I agree, I found Japanese to be somewhat easy as well; a lot of the words are easier to pronounce than Korean words. Japanese words and particles are also easy to catch on. It's just that I cannot read Kanji and I can barely read Katakana and Hiragana (I can only read Hangul) :)

... it is not TAGALOG, is it? its more appropriately called as FILIPINO... but yeah i agree that korean would help you slip off japanese and chinese more easily... but japanese is a lot easier (except hanja, 1 of the 3 writing systems). FILIPINO and SPANISH are related so its quite easy to master both, but of the 3 oriental languages, japanese is the easiest to learn...

But I found Korean writing to be pretty easy - I learned how to read it in one week and now I can ALMOST read as fast as "normal" speed.

It does help, if you learn one language like Korean it will make it easier to learn the other two related languages (Japanese and Mandarin)And if you learn Tagalog, Malay (and perhaps Spanish) will be easier to learn as well - take it from a Filipino-Japanese guy who is also obsessed with K-pop (and SNSD :D)But keep in mind that Tagalog is not directly related to Korean. Theyre many spaces apart.

I'm a filipina girl living in North America where I'm freezing my bum off desperately trying to learn how to speak Korean because I've gone obsessed with Family Outing. Anyway, does it really help if you know at least one asian language? Like, tagalog?

... i dont really think so!! filipinos are studying korean too, and the FILIPINO language is a bit easier to learn, however, Filipinos are still having a hard time mastering korean...
