It's a bit complicated, but here's the general gist...the guy and the girl do like each other, but she was forced to marry his best friend. The guy left shortly after, and has returned to find that his best friend is dead, and his best friend's mom (the old lady in bed) is dying. The girl is disabled from shock...there's a great twist at the end of the movie, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone! Definitely rent this movie and watch if you can.
