Those are totally mogito...you can tell by the chromy-zinc-sheen. Actually, I think that using a shinken is safer in a lot of ways....namely they tips don't break off and fly across the room after impact. The music is not a the best thing in the video, that is for sure. ;p

...Which is why eaguard said he did this only one side at a time.

I don't think it's a good idea imho, because with swords u have to stop in such a way to avoid to hit other's blade, and so u miss the possibility to conquer the centre of the opponent, as u should do with bokken. And that music!!! It's really not needed.

The kata feel very different when not using bokken. I only practice one side at a time by myself when not using bokke, but it makes you muck more aware of your positioning in every aspect.

I assume these people are responsible enough not to use shinken, and these are probably iaito. However, it is a good idea to practice the kata like this once in a while. But, I have never engaged in partner practice using ken, sharpened or not, only one side at a time individual practice.

naah I dont like it, katas must be done with wooden bokken. This is only a show. Not to teach anything to anybody, but if you use ken it is only to show the real applications and not the standard kata

I don't think you're supposed to practice these kata with anything else but a boken.
