Actually, it's an irish folk song from the 1700's about a highwayman who was executed. 'As I was a-walkin' round kilgary mountain' Metallica is only one of the many bands who've covered it, but the rock version which Metallica based their version off of is actually directly from Thin Lizzy's version who initially performed the first rock version of it. They were a Dublin band. Best known for 'the boys are back in town' or 'jailbreak'.
