You get it linguistically, but not culturally. I know how it feels. I'm fluent in german, but don't have deep enough understanding of the cultural framework that surrounds the language to find their jokes funny. It just goes to show that truly learning a language goes beyond academic acquisition.

I am a foreigner who speaks Japanese and has even lived in japan. I dont really find this funny. To be honest the whole spectrum of Japanese humor is far off from what we consider funny in America lets say...I get it, but its not funny.
