If the blower was real and not being driven by the belt all the time, the air would not be able to get past the vanes. It's a neat Hollywood effect seeing the supercharger switched on. It just wouldn't work in the real world though.

the blower is fake,it uses an aircon pulley the same as an aircon unit in any other car it`s called a magnetic pulley and is turned on by a switch. real blowers turn from the minute u turn the engine on.

The blower is not functional. If it did work it would rotate all of the time. You can't selectively run the blower. It would always rotate with the engine running.

A normal blower would be run off of the engine pulleys. If you ran the belt of an electric motor you could turn it on and off. I am not sure how efficient it would actually be, but in theory it does work.

I read that the blower is gutted and retrofitted to fit over a carburetor, totally nonfunctional, and ive never seen or heard of a manually engaging blower, but that would be bad ass.

You are aware the supercharger was fake and powered by an electric motor right?

the blower speed is a giveaway too - even tho the engine is revving you can hear the electric motor spinning the pulley at a constant speed.

Look closely, there are no bearing plates bolted to the case. No plates, no rotors. No rotors, no boost. No boost, not functional.

Awesome and the blower seems to work for real.

Just installing a clutch to stop the belt won't work on a Roots type supercharger. For it to work like in the film, 2 clutches would be needed. one to disengage the belt and another inside the front cover to disengage the drive gears so the rotors can "wind-mill", i.e. spin freely. The rotors must be able to turn to allow the induction charge to reach the intake runners. I always found humor in the fact that the front and rear bearing plates are missing from the blower. It's all movie magic.
